Building on the success of the website redesign for Belron's German business unit, carglass.de, the project quickly took on a truly global scope.
The original system for Carglass Germany was extensively reworked to suit the needs of a company operating on a worldwide stage. In addition to layout changes and comprehensive branding, a number of features were implemented to make the website a powerful communications and marketing instrument for the client.
Concept Factory designed an intuitive online booking and appointment interface that integrates seamlessly with the client's back office. The website provides information on the company's services, perfectly optimised for search engine use, and with a strong focus on directing the user to the online booking system.
The system could be expanded to include landing pages for special sales, partner sites for participating insurance companies and customisable areas for promotional and marketing purposes.
The true value of the system's flexibility, however, lay in the ability to tailor the basic website to the specific market requirements of every country the client operates in. Belron is active in over 27 countries worldwide, from North and South America, to most of Europe and even Australia and New Zealand. For each country's website, it was not simply a matter of adapting the site to the local language. The range of services provided often varied from market to market, as did the extent of dealer coverage, marketing initiatives by local management, even legal and technical standards.
The system was designed and implemented using the open-source content management system Typo3. From a development point of view, Typo3 is a robust and easily expandable framework that owes much of its stability to the large, active open-source community supporting it. For the client, it is both easy to learn and to use, allowing the client to save on site maintenance costs, not to mention licensing fees.
In close cooperation with the client, Concept Factory continued to develop the websites further, until, after successively going live with 30 individual country-specific websites, the project was finally declared completed on October 31, 2009.
The cooperation with Concept Factory has strengthened Belron's position as industry leader and dramatically improved the conversion rate not only of cold online bookings, but also of other marketing measures employed by the company.
For Concept Factory, working with Belron was a welcome opportunity to show that we are equally at home on the global market as on the national level.
